A child who feels good about themselves also learns well. Portus Juliana does everything possible to provide each student with the guidance that suits him or her. This applies both to learning, as well as to personal development and social interaction. At Juliana, we pay attention to every student.

Support

Imagine that you need more help than your mentor can provide. No problem! At Juliana, we have a professional support team.

The support team consists of a support coordinator, a school social worker, a remedial teacher, a special education supervisor, and a counselor.

Prevention and resolution

The support team works both to prevent problems and to solve problems that have arisen nonetheless. Support always takes place in collaboration with the student's mentor. If necessary, external help can be arranged through the support coordinator, for example from a psychologist or an educationalist.

Help with financial problems

The support team can also assist with covering school expenses. For questions about this, you can contact our school social worker, Gino Troiano (g.h.g.troiano@cvo-portus.nl – 0619290831)

Confidential Advisors

The confidential advisor is the point of contact for staff, students, and parents who wish to confidentially address undesirable behavior in the workplace. In addition, they also advise on the school's safety policy and provide support during complaint procedures according to the complaints regulations of the school board (Portus-CVO). At our school, the confidential advisors are Willemdirk van den Berg (w.d.van.den.berg@cvo-portus.nl) and Barbara Meure (b.a.meure@cvo-portus.nl).

Koers VO Partnership

As of August 2014, the Appropriate Education Act has been implemented. The aim of appropriate education is to ensure that every student receives a suitable place in education, as close to home as possible. To achieve this, partnerships for appropriate secondary education have been established. These are regional networks of secondary schools in which special and mainstream schools work together. Together, they provide a comprehensive range of education and support for all students.

Our school is part of the Koers VO partnership (Rotterdam region).

The plans and agreements made by a partnership are recorded in a support plan. This plan is coordinated with the municipalities in the region and with the support plan council (OPR). Each school location also has a school support profile, which describes the support the school can offer. For our partnership, these can be found on the website Koers VO School Profiles: appropriate secondary education for Rotterdam and surroundings .
